Gillian Sykes, End of Life Facilitator has been pivotal in supporting the families of loved ones who have passed away under the care of Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, coming up with many initiative projects to make sure our patients receive the best possible support whilst enhancing patient and family experience. 

Thanks to kind doantions, we have been able to continue the funding of bereavement cards. These cards are sent to the next of kin of all patients that sadly pass away in one of our hospitals. The cards are sent directly from the ward/department providing a personalised approach and support for the bereaved family. 

Charitable funding has also contributed towards small personalised bereavement boxes that are sent to a bereaved family, offering condolences, support and signposting to local bereavement support services. Feedback from families has been beyond incredible, and testament to the innovation, adaptation and compassion of Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and its workforce.
