Last month, CHFT Charity received a kind donation, in loving memory of Norah Annie Crabtree (19.05.1925 to 05.05.2022), and with the permission of her sons, Peter and Andrew Crabtree, we wanted to shard some details about how giving in memory of a loved one can and will make a really big difference.
"We have chosen to make a donation to the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary Surgical Assessment Unit, because of the high level of care, great compassion and sensitivity shown, whilst treating mum with upmost dignity.
Staff were so attentive, also ensuring we were made to feel comfortable, prodiving meals and attending to us, and allowing Andrew to spend as much time as possible with mum.
We hope that our donation will help to support staff, patients and families who are also cared for on the Surgical Assessment Unit at HRI." - Andrew and Peter Crabtree.
Read on below for a beautiful testament and tribute to Norah, written by her sons:
Orignally from Barnsley, Norah, together with her older sister and parents moved to the Halifax area before the war in the 1930s. It was while in Halifax, she met her husband Donald who served in the RAF, and a few years after completing his service, they got married in 1950.
Norah and Donald enjoyed a happy marriage of 63 years, filled with good humour, a shared love of dancing and comedians Morecambe and Wise.
Norah, a devoted mother to Peter and Andrew worked part time whilst her sons were at school, her last role being a Ward Clerk at Calderdale Royal Hospital, until she retired at 60.
A keen gardener, self-taught seamstress and knitter, Norah also dedicated her time to organising social events for Retired NHS Fellowship group.
CHFT Charity want to say a huge thank you to Peter and Andrew for sharing their feedback and giving permission to share their words.
Giving in memory can be a very special way in remembering your loved ones and in doing so helping to support patients and their families who access our healthcare services in the future.
