Jon's appreciation has inspired him to embark on a fundraising journey

Jon Newsholme and his two friends, Colin, and Ed, are embarking on a special challenge, walking 84 miles across Hadrian's Wall, coast to coast, to raise funds to support and benefit the Children's Ward at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a personal journey for Jon, as his son, Oscar, has been a patient on the ward multiple times throughout the years.

Jon said: "Oscar's experience on the ward has been exceptional, and it's the unwavering support that has kept him and our family smiling, even during the toughest of times.

"Oscar is in a wheelchair, and the care he has received has made a huge difference to both his life and our family's. The Children's Ward team go above and beyond to provide not just excellent medical care, but also emotional support, helping children like Oscar to navigate the challenges they face with kindness, compassion, and expertise."

The team are walking the 84 miles to help make the world of difference for children facing mobility issues and other challenges. It's not going to be easy, but they are committed to completing the journey in honour of Oscar and all the other children who depend on the support and care of the Children's Ward.

Visit Jon's fundraising page to follow along on his journey and to donate if you wish.

We are wishing the team lots of luck on their journey! The teams support means a lot to us, their fundraising efforts will benefit younger patients at CHFT, now and in the future!
